Mid-Sentence ~ In 100 Words

I have so many drafts

Poems or stories that stop mid-sentence

because they don’t feel right

like my brain is revolting against my finger tips and I can’t type another word

Emotions halted

Dialog hanging

Characters mid-movement

I have ideas but

they never come to fruition

So I do the normal remedies for writers block

but no matter how good the book is

my fingers and brain just do not line up

I have ideas bouncing everywhere to be written about

but I just can’t scribe the words

So I try and it’s going swell

until the flow stops  . . .

writer's block

Procrastination ~ In 100 Words

There’s no adoration

for procrastination,

and yet we are all guilty

but some more lately.

I, myself, have succumb to the temptation

where I wish it would magically get done.

The formulas in my brain

the notes written, which is such an ordain

Alas!

If I wish to pass my class

I must sacrifice my time, social life and at points, sanity

I study with no glee

But I do it so I can enjoy a lovely thing called summer

that goes by in a blur

Nevertheless, I will take a minute or two

before I finish my Chemistry review.

Like You ~ In One Hundred Words

No one is like you.

No one calms me like you do,

No one makes me laugh like you do,

No one understands me like you do,

No one geeks out with me like you do,

No one reads the Bible like you do,

No one writes, speaks, thinks, feels like you do,

No one makes me as comfortable like you do,

No one flies on ‘what if’ like you do,

No one hopes, fears, loves, hates like you do,

No one laughs, cries, smiles, responses like you do,

No one dreams like you do,

No one is like you.

Tahereh Mafi ~ In One Hundred Words

She is the Lana del Ray of writing

Her style is like ocean waves comforting roar,

yet the salt stings you in all the places you forgot were hurting

Her writing is sweetly sour lemonade on the oh so hot summer days that are just never enough

Her words molded into perfectly placed paragraphs connected by punctuation is the thread that sews up my heart that pages ago her letters broke

She forms characters so breath-taking from all the laughs and cries and passion

Her writing devices put any other word artist to shame

Her words makes the world stop spinning

Mafi

Tahereh Mafi is my absolute favorite word artist who has written my favorite series “Shatter Me”. My favorite quote about writing is from her:

We write every day, we fight every day, we think and scheme and dream a little dream every day. Manuscripts pile up in the kitchen sink, run-on sentences dangle around our necks. We plant purple prose in our gardens and snip the adverbs only to thread them in our hair. We write with no guarantees, no certainties, no promises of what might come and we do it anyway. This is who we are.

I just finished reading all of her books for the second time and basically underlining every sentence because it is so beautifully crafted.  🙂 I cannot say enough how amazing her love of language shows through her writing and into the minds of her readers.

The One Hundred Word Tear

The tear went unnoticed.

Correction: almost

The tear went almost unnoticed.

The silent

Unselfish

tiny tear

glided down

the cheek.

The tear wasn’t caused by anything

it was not a reaction from

emotion

situation

story

words said

No.

It was not caused by anyone of these things.

The tear came out from the eye

and drifted across and down the cheek.

Until it curved around to the mouth.

There was no streak left behind

No blotches visible

Just a silent

Unselfish

tear

that glided down.

An un-profound tear that went almost unnoticed.

Something with no deeper meaning.

That went unnoticed.
