A Flag of Fire ~ A Rondeau

A flag of fire is flown in autumn

Last defiance before winter come

Yet they, too, fall; drifting in brevity

Sparks cascade around the match like tree

Visible music notes, the season’s anthem

Red, gold, orange worn in patriotism

For now, bare limbs are found seldom

Tunnels of fire, signs of autumn’s army

A flag of fire is flown in autumn

The foe in the sky, snowflakes not welcome

Fought not for power, but for freedom

A bloodless war, honored not for history

Flames dancing in the ever-chilling wind, carefree

Celebrating the antebellum

A flag of fire is flown in autumn

Drop by Drop: A Rondeau Poem

“We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at least one which makes the heart  run over”
– James Bowell in The Life of Samuel Johnson

Drop by drop we become

best friends, and I don’t believe that was random.

You, just being yourself, makes me so happy!

Together we are so giggle-y

Understanding each other’s humor we can say anything with freedom

With your friends, house, life you always make me feel welcome

Your great personality and smarts all packed in that lovely cranium

You are considerate, smart, a little scattered a times, and spunky!

Drop by drop, drop by drop

You trust me by sharing your thoughts, which is awesome

You are constantly trying to fix a real or a puzzle problem

You live in and have love for Our Lord Almighty

I am able to call you my friend, joyfully!

What an amazing twosome!

Drop by drop, drop by drop

Just Be Blunt: A Rondeau

Please, please just be blunt,

Don’t make me have to hunt

Pecking at every word, so indecisive.

Each issue or option, you are passive,

Neither loud nor silent.

I’m not a nag, but please adjustment

No hand to hold, be independent

Yes or no, but not compulsive

Please, please just be blunt.

Don’t string me along, then to banishment.

I need an answer, now, up front.

Turn your back on being vague or elusive

I’m no Sherlock Holmes, being deductive

Up or down, day or night, sink or buoyant

Please, please just be blunt.

A Daisy: A Rondeau Poem

All I wish for is a daisy

The kind that is in stories of fairies

So soft, so sweet, the petals are perfect white

A gift to a princess from a knight

A flower that represents all goodly

Innocence, hope, symbol of simple beauty

A small token the world hasn’t turned dirty

When all hope is gone, a passion to ignite

I wish for a daisy

I know this simple, small hope seems flimsy

But on the battle field, this is a rally

A reason not to die for, but for fight

Find hope in war-torn meadow, I might

Hold tight to future possibility

I wish for a daisy

This poem is inspired by my second favorite author’s quotes about hope:

“Hope is hugging me, holding me in its arms, wiping away my tears and telling me that today and tomorrow and two days from now I will be just fine and I’m so delirious I actually dare to believe it.”

Tahereh Mafi in Shatter Me

It’s like a drop of honey, a field of tulips blooming in the springtime. It’s a fresh rain, a whispered promise, a cloudless sky, the perfect punctuation mark at the end of a sentence. And it’s the only thing in the world keeping me afloat.”

Taherah Mafi in Unravel Me

“Hope is a pocket of possibility.
I’m holding it in my hand.”

Taherah Mafi in Shatter Me

Yet Not Forgotten: A Rondeau Poem

Something that ends in memory

Is something that I do not wish to be

Asking, begging, forget me. Please?

Remembered for person, not for glories

Not for great world acts, personally, me

Over lifetime being, salute to me

Minutes of fame do not define ably

Softly in heart, not bravely in stories

Of me, yet not forgotten

Remember weakness, doubts, getting by

Not public image, life looking glossy

I’m fragile flower, not glowing rubies

Recall me in whispers, not glees

Common girl, not celebrity

Of me, yet not forgotten

My Missing Character: A Rondeau

 My never ending character

last period such a fervor

but in mind they never leave

for the good and the bad you grieve

of them you hope for a glimpser

More than figment, they go further

A direction to your future

From ink to matter, interweaves

My never ending character

last period such a fervor

Now I’m wishing for their valor

Willing to be a lifesaver

Wishing not to underachieve

Trying to be my character

My never ending character

last period such a fervor

I just finished the Superior Spider-man series and I want more Otto Gunther Octavius and Anna Maria Marconi!
