Greetings! I post quite a bit of poetry. However, I have anything and everything from short stories to Christian to Superhero stuff. If you are looking for any particular topic or genre, you can use the above tabs to browse that way. I am a twin, so sometimes my sister posts on my blog.
My blog’s title is in reference to a sermon series my pastor gave in January of 2015. I go to Tri- County Christian Church.
I chose this pen name because I LOVE Marvel comicbooks! (yes it is comicbooks, not comic books, just ask Stan Lee) My favorite super-powered character is a Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan). The second part of my pen name is Varietal which is the title of a novel that I’m writing and it is coming along nicely. I have about 100,000 words. However, my novel has since changed titles, but it is difficult to change my penname.
My little ‘tag’ line ‘The Unhippopotomonstrosesquipedaliphobia – A Witzelsucht’ means ‘The person who is unafraid of big words – a feeble attempt at humor.’ I have this as my tag line because I strongly believe that one has not truly lived until they have had an emotion that one cannot completely describe in one word. That is why I search for words that might describe such emotions to see if I have truly lived. Just a thought you might want to ponder when trying to fall asleep! Yeah, I don’t count sheep, I ponder the meaning of life – witzelsucht!
The gif above is my blog’s name and it is falling inward because I am finding my place and everything is fitting together. I have grown so much as a person, and writer, since I started this blog and the gif symbolizes that.
I used to have another Christian blog called ‘Citizen of Heaven’ which you can click here to see, but it got to be too much and I ended it.
If you would like to know a little more about me, read my poem My One Hundred Word Memoir.
If you would like to know a little more about my growth as a writer read my first memoir on this blog: I Look Back.
Why do I write? I write to express my thoughts and emotions in a way that only written words only can. I write to explore who I am and what makes me who I am. I write to press the borders of what is deemed normal.
I love to be able to create characters and ideas expressed where I don’t even know or feel the true meaning of them before they go from my fingers to the keyboard. The power of words whistle around me, the ideas carried with them dance in my imagination’s eye. Maybe word aren’t only meant to be a connection between people. Maybe words can be a connection between the back of the mind and the corner of the soul. Words can form a bridge between my imagination and my reality.
And just out of interest, how did you find me? Please comment, I really want to know! 🙂
I LOVE Marvel to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way you went about approaching the topic of yourself but not saying who you are was infuriating but made me want to read more!

I love your choice of topics to explore on your blog! I’m a big Marvel fan myself, and Civil War is my favorite XD Nihilominus, I agree that writing is an excellent way to explore the inner self, and your motives are grounded in good moral 🙂

Dear Marvel Varietal,
Even though I’m not a very religious person, I really like the story behind your blog title. I would love to know a little more about it. I’m curious as to why that one line from the sermon stuck with you. If it’s too personal to talk about, I’ll understand.

I never even thought about what grace was until my pastor’s sermon series. Grace was just this word that floated around Christ every so often, and I didn’t really understand it’s true meaning. My pastor said ‘grace is greater than – fill in the blank.’ What really struck home was ‘grace is greater than my hurt’, my past, the things that haunt me. He talked about ‘messy grace’ and how it’s so hard to scrounge up grace against the person who hurt you. It’s easy to receive grace, but so much harder to extend grace. He said ‘Resentment is like drinking a bottle of poison and waiting for the other person to die’. Jesus died to give me grace, and now I should show grace because of that. Not out of obligation, but out of love. Thank you for your question, if you want to know anything more you can e-mail me or go to my church’s website: http://www.tricountychristianchurch.com/

Thank you for your comment! As for how I got my blog to look like this, hours upon hours. I spend too much time on my blog, it has basically become my life. Well, actually, writing has become my life. But I know what every button on WordPress does and I will have most likely have used it. Have a great day!

Hahaha! I hope I can achieve what you did from this class! And wow! I could barely figure out how to change the colors of the font… Maybe that’s just my cluelessness with technology shining through, though! You have a great day, as well!

I find this blog already piquing my interest, because I write for the very same reason as well. Now of course my level of writing isn’t “quite” there yet, but that’s exactly why I took Creative Writing. Hopefully one day I can show the world how I see it, and what my own emotions are.

I find this all very interesting because I clicked with everything you had to say. It was very similar to what my emotions have themselves. I love the contrast of what you said!

I love this description of yourself. It was really to the point, but at the same time it was really interesting and relatable. I really love how you contrast what you say.

I found your blog because someone liked a post on mine. I then meandered over to his and when looking around there found your blog in the community grouping. Your profile intrigued me as I have a son and two grandchildren ( 2 and 4) who are Marvel fanatics and love all things Marvel as well as loving Jesus, the biggest superhero. I have been having a wonderful time looking around your blog and love how your pastor explained grace.

Thank you so much! I always like knowing how people find me. It is great for your grandchildren to be into superheroes and start liking to read at such a young age; just like my father started reading comic books to me when I was three years old. I have a shirt that has the Hulk, Captain America, and Spider-man all around Jesus and Jesus says “. . . And that’s how I saved the world!” Have a lovely day! 🙂

God’s grace changes everything, especially people–I’m one of them–His grace is continuing to change me from glory to glory as I behold His face each day–Hallelujah! May He bless you abundantly with His favor 🙂
