Newly Old of Food

The crunch

Scrapping against the roof of my mouth

The flesh and skin all wrapped up

Red, Yellow, Green

Twist the stem, Twist the stem, Twist the stem

Make it shine

Scrubbing

Water rolling down it’s sides

Throw it around

Pick it off trees

A staple of school children’s lunches

To place on teacher’s desks

The crunch

Scrapping against the roof of my mouth

Apple

Three windows made of one strand

The soft, hard, thin

Glazed with honey

dipped in mustered

Dusted with cinnamon

Sprinkled with salt

In malls

In plastic baggies

Tearing, crunching, munching

Pretzels

Sucking up angel hair

Sauce splatter on the sides

Throw it against the wall

Twist it, cut it, slurp it

The best Grandma’s recipe

From Italy

With meatballs, hamburger, or ribs

Spagetti
